J-COOP

Native to the south-side of Atlanta, J-Coop pushes the bar far beyond the normal boundaries, which has often left him in a class of his own. As an ASCAP affiliated songwriter & the C.E.O. of Winning Team Entertainment, his sole mission is to enlighten & uplift listener's with his artistry. His early musical influences consisted of southernplayalistic, east-coast and west-coast rap intertwined with soulful tunes played by his grandparents. Drawing and athletics were big hobbies in his youth but as he got older his interest shifted more towards rap. He and his friends would freestyle at school and the excitement of the competition immediately had him hooked. Seemingly possessed by the creative culture, he perfected his skills by recording himself on a tape player daily after school.

Soon after, he released both a collaborative (“Under Surveillance”) and solo project (“Da Takeover”), which sparked heavy interest in surrounding communities. After high school he continued his journey in music & became the Freestyle Friday Champion on Atlanta’s largest hip-hop radio station, Hot 107.9. Performing on tons of stages throughout the city, he sustained momentum and followed up with the release of “Public Service Announcement in 2009. Coupled with the releasing, “You're Welcome” the year after, J-Coop gained extensive notoriety through digital and grass-root mediums. Linking up with rising collective “Thumbs Up” shortly thereafter, they began touring and the buzz had become electric but financial hardships forced him to join the Army and take a reluctant hiatus from music.

The release of ”PimpTightPlaya” in 2012, in a sense, held over both him and his fans while away at basic training & A.I.T. After a yearlong deployment to Afghanistan, he returned to live in South Carolina but it was obvious that his heart still resided in the ATL. After 6 months he moved his family back home and resumed working on his music career. A year after returning his second album and opus project, “Good Day ATLanta” was released as a dedication to the Atlanta he knew growing up. In addition to being a dedicated father, husband and hard worker, he curates events as a part of The Winner's Circle.
